12:1 You will say in that day: I will give thanks to you, O LORD,
for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, and you
comforted me.
12:2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be
afraid, for the LORD GOD is my strength and my might; he has become
my salvation.
12:3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
12:4 And you will say in that day: Give thanks to the LORD, call on
his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his
name is exalted.
12:5 Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this
be known in all the earth.
12:6 Shout aloud and sing for joy, O royal Zion, for great in your
midst is the Holy One of Israel.
Comments:
My theme for the week will be 'they had no idea how deep that well
of salvation was'.

Despite Isaiah's harsh words to the nations of Israel and Judah in
the first 11 chapters, the prophet rejoices in the relationship
between God and the people. Isaiah's name literally means "The Lord
saves," and salvation is the prophet's theme in these few verses.
This assurance of salvation must have been an important and
consoling word for the people as the nation stood between its most
glorious tmie in history and its demise by civil war. We are
reminded in these verses of salvation's power for us today.
I'm trying to follow the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, Love of the
Advent candles this season and for this week's candle of Joy was
overjoyed (no pun intended!) to find Isaiah 12:3 in this week's
readings! Still early, but my title is "Water from the Well"
