Invocation:

Father, you sent your Word to bring us truth and your Spirit to make us holy. Through them we come to know the mystery of your life. Help us to worship you, one God in three Persons, by proclaiming and living our faith in you. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Call to Worship (based on Psalm 8):

L: O Lord, our Lord how majestic is your name in all the earth!
P: Your glory is chanted above the heavens by the mouths of babes and infants.
L: When I look at the heavens,
P: the work of God's hands, the moon and the stars which God has established;
L: What are human beings that God is mindful of us?
P: Yet God has made us little less than God, and crowned us with glory and honor.
L: Let our response be one of worship and adoration!

Prayer of Confession

Living God, who has called into being the brilliant colors of the world around us, we thank you for the privilege of living in a world filled with your glory. As we gather in worship we recognize, O God, the power you have given us to protect or destroy, to keep or lose, to hold or share, to preserve or waste. Forgive us Lord for being poor stewards of your creation. For pollution we have created on land, air, or water, forgive us Lord. For seeing natural resources as endless rights, rather than gifts to share and protect, forgive us Lord. For allowing greed to blind us to the harmful consequences of plundering our forests and our natural habitats, forgive us Lord. We seek to repent Lord, for these many sins. Give us courage to be stewards who will not see your blessing's as possessions but as treasures to share and use for the welfare of all creation and persons who now live and for future generations who will follow us as stewards of life. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.

Creeds for Trinity Sunday:

1) Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

2) The Apostolic Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic [apostolic or universal] church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Short Trinity Sunday Prayer:

Holy God, you have given us grace, by the confession of the faith of your holy church,
to acknowledge the mystery of your divine mystery of the eternal Trinity and, in the power of your divine majesty, to worship the Unity.

Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship,
and bring us at last to see in your eternal glory
One God, now and forever. Amen.

Long Trinity Sunday Prayer:

We praise Thee, O God, for having made known to us the great mystery of the Holy Trinity. Thou has granted the privilege of worshiping Thee as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, three divine Persons in one unchanging God.

We worship Thee, O God the Father. Thou hast created us and given us the gift of life. Thou hast sustained us through the years with the gifts of Thy love.  Thou has protected us in danger and guided us safely to this day.  For all these gifts we praise and thank Thy holy name.

We worship Thee, O God the Son. Thou wast slain and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood. Thou hast hidden our sins with the robe of Thy righteousness. Thou hast covered our unworthiness with Thy merit.  Thou didst become the Son of Man that we might become the children of God.  For all these gifts we praise and thank Thy Holy name.

We worship Thee, O God the Holy Ghost. Thou hast given us the gift of faith so that we know Jesus Christ as our Savior from sin and death and hell. Thou hast given us the assurance of the forgiveness of our sins through Him. Thou hast cheered us with the hope of heaven in Christ. For all these gifts we praise and thank Thy holy name.

O Holy Trinity, preserve us always in body and soul until we stand at the last in joyful awe and wonder before Thy throne to praise Thee in the fullness of joy, world without and. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

Everlasting God, you have revealed yourself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and ever live and reign in the perfect unity of love.
Grant that we may always hold firmly and joyfully to this faith, and, living in praise of your divine majesty, may finally be one in you; who are three persons in one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Benediction (based on the lesson from 2 Cor 13):

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all, now, and forevermore. Amen.
