Call to Worship (based
on Psalm 145)
L: The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
P: The LORD is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.
L: All your works shall give thanks to you, O LORD, and all your faithful shall bless you.
P: Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all
generations. The LORD is faithful in all his words, and gracious in all his deeds.
L: The LORD upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who are bowed down. Come, let
us worship the LORD!
Prayer of Dedication
by Ignatius of Loyola
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will,
all that I have and possess.
You have given all to me.
To You, O Lord, I return it.
All is Yours, dispose of it wholly
according to Your will.
Give me Your love and Your grace,
for this is sufficient for me.
Prayer of Confession
God of the ages, God of all nations, we humbly approach your throne
being fully aware of our sinful nature. In the areas we fail to
be wise stewards, we ask your forgiveness. We confess that we have
neglected to . . .
Love our neighbors as ourselves.
Share generously, especially with those who are needy.
Observe all your commandments
Exercise self-control
Follow your call to be workers in your harvest
Forgive us, we pray, and allow us to go forward in
Jesus' name so that your kingdom be firmly established among us. Amen.
Prayer for self-control:
O Lord our God, teach us temperance and self-control, that we may live in
the Spirit and be mindful of all that Jesus endured and sacrificed for our sakes, and how
he was made perfect through sufferings.
Help us so to follow your guiding hand, that we may loose the bonds of wickedness, undo
the heavy burdens, and let the oppressed go free; through the grace of Christ Jesus our
crucified and risen Savior. Amen.

Independence Day Prayer:
Almighty God, bless our nation and make it true to the ideas of freedom and justice and
brotherhood for all who make it great. Guard us from war, from fire and wind, from
comprise, fear and confusion.
Be close to our president and our statesmen, give them vision and courage, as they
ponder decisions effecting peace and the future of our world. Make me more deeply aware of
my heritage realizing not only my rights but also my duties and responsibilities as a
citizen.
Make this great land and all its people know clearly your will, that they may fulfill
the destiny ordained for us.

Closing Prayer:
traditional Navaho
Before us it is blessed, behind us it is blessed
below us it is blessed, above us it is blessed,
around us it is blessed as we set out with Christ.
Our speech is blessed as we set out for God.
With beauty before us, with beauty behind us,
with beauty below us, with beauty above us,
with beauty around us, we set out for a holy place indeed.
Amen.
